Maria D’Orey, Director of Spa and Fitness at  Serenity - The Art of Well Being Spa at the five-star Pine Cliffs Resort, Algarve, has been awarded Best Spa Manager in the Portuguese market at the World Luxury Spa Awards 2017. As voted by spa guests, these awards are presented to luxury spas in 32 different categories that set the standard in quality, innovation, and service.

An expert in spa and wellness, Maria has truly positioned the resort as a leader in the spa industry through the careful selection of brands such as Sensai, Keratase, and Margaret Dabbs. Commenting on the accolade, Maria said “I am absolutely delighted to receive this internationally recognised award. It represents the hard work and commitment the team have put into Serenity to put it on the map as one of the best spas in Portugal, that not only focuses on relaxation but health and wellness.” 

The winner has been a specialist in SPAs since 2014. The specialization was made at the University of Algarve with a thesis on Medicinal SPAs. She has been an expert in the management of SPAs since 2012 and is the main responsible for the brand Serenity - The Art of Well Being, at the Pine Cliffs Resort and at the Sheraton Cascais Resort, who owns spas in the Algarve and Cascais respectively.
